Open Education Ontario Summit

Plan now to attend the first Open Education Ontario Summit, Monday March 27, 2017 from 9am to 5pm at OCAD University, 100 McCaul St. in Toronto, Ontario.

eCampusOntario, in partnership with Creative Commons Canada, OCADU and BCcampus, will host the first Open Education Ontario Summit, a forum designed to build local capacity, create opportunities for Open pedagogy, and showcase Open Education projects and practices. This event is designed to encourage collaboration and innovation around the concepts of Open.

New possibilities for Open Education

With just 100 spots available for the 2017 Open Education Ontario Summit - interested parties are encouraged to submit an application that outlines why Open Education matters in their work, and a specific challenge they face when implementing the principles.

They will also be encouraged to provide an idea for an Open Education project they would like to see within their institution. The goal will be to have two representatives from each of the Ontario colleges and universities in attendance.

“As the possibilities and the potential for Open Education initiatives continues to grow, we are very excited to be at the forefront. We know that participants in the inaugural Open Education Ontario Summit will take away real learnings that they can use immediately to leverage the power of Open.”

Dean Lloyd, Manager, Marketing & Communications

Morning Session - Open Education Essentials

The morning session will feature key players in the Open Education movement, providing attendees with the latest information on the state of Open, and the many institutional trends taking shape for the future. Scheduled topics include ‘The 5Rs of Open’ and ‘What could Open Education mean for my institution?’

Afternoon Session – creating a community of Open Rangers

One of the most important outcomes of the Open Education Ontario Summit will be to create a passionate, dedicated community that will support the uptake and use of Open Education Resources in classrooms across Ontario.

Through this event, eCampusOntario will support the first cadre of   Open Rangers – a group that will foster and develop Open Education initiatives, both within their work and educational institutions.

We look forward to seeing you there!
