Western University Online Courses & Programs

In the programs section, you will see that 7 different degree modules and 5 university diplomas and certificates can be completed by Western students via distance learning.  In total, Western offers more than 250 of its courses through distance and that number will continue to grow.  

The majority of Western online courses do require a proctored final exam. Available examination centres include:

Transfer to Western

For information about making an application to be admitted to, and become a registered student at Western, please visit our Welcome website.

Students in degree programs at Western University may take courses at other accredited universities for transfer credits provided the Faculty in which they are currently registered approves such courses in advance. The approval is subject to individual Faculty/Department regulations and is granted in the form of a Letter of Permission (issued by the Registrar’s Office). 

The courses will only be approved if:

  • The course is relevant to your degree program;
  • The course is approved for a Western equivalent;
  • Applicant may only take a maximum of 5.0 credits on a Letter of Permission or Exchange towards a Western degree.
